- FREQUENT QUESTIONS:
- 1. Q. I speak a little bit of Spanish but I don't know exactly my Spanish
level. Which level can I enroll in?
= The first day you will have to present an oral Leveling exam and
according
to it, you will be told in which of the three levels you are.
- 2. Q. I am allergic to cigars smoke. Can I ask for a non-smokers house?
=Yes, In your application in the "Family Preferences", you just have to
choose non-smoker.
- 3. Q. Can I stay in the same house with a friend?
=Yes, you just have to write this request on the comments section, the cost
per day in this case is US $25.
- 4. Q. When will classes start?
= We work all year round .In case of individual courses we start every
Monday, and for group courses you must check the schedule
- 5. Q. Can I stay additional days in order to improve my Spanish skills?
= Sure, you just have to notify us in advance and you will be charged US
$25
per every additional home stay day and US $100 per every additional
education day.
- 6. Q. Can I send my application before I confirm my flight date?
= Yes, but please let us know in advance as soon as you are aware of the
date of your flight by Fax, E-mail or mail.
- 7. Q. Do you offer special group discounts?
=Yes, In case of three-student group or more, we offer a 10% discount per
each student. The group leader will obtain the discount.
- 8. Q. If I bring a group do all them have to be students or be in the same
level?
= No, A group can consist of any kind of student, friend, relative, etc…
- 9.Q. I have a special diet. Would this be a problem?
= No problem, You just to make a note in your application form in the
comments section.
- 10. Q. Is there any discount for students who are sharing the same house?
=No, our agreement with the families is to pay for each student
independently .
- 11. Q. How much will be deducted if I don't stay in one of your family
houses?
= You will have to check Investment chart.
- 12. Q. What would happen if I have any accidents while I am in Colombia?
= The school has an accident insurance, which costs US $40 per month.
- 13. Q. What would happen If I don't arrive the day I am expected, or in the
other hand I arrive late and I can't be placed in the house I was supposed
to stay?
=There is no problem, You will just be put up in another house; and you
will
have to confirm the arrival and departure, so we can accommodate you in the
chosen housel, each additional home stay day costs US $22.
- 14. Q. May a friend of relative come or mine to visit and stay with me in
the place I am staying?
=Yes, but again this should be done through the school and you should make
a
quotation in your application. The cost will be the same as if the person
were a student.
- 15.Q. Which is the difference between intensive and regular courses?
= The only difference is that the intensive course would take three daily
hours more than the regular course. Nevertheless, both courses have the
same
study program.
- 16. Q. How do you select the families where the students will be host?
=Each family must fulfill some requirements regarding to Hygiene, Comforts,
and proximity to school. If the families fulfill these requirements then,
ANDAP will send someone to talk to the families and give them instructions
about the proper way to host foreigners.
- 17. Q. How far will be the house from the school?
=All houses and hotels are located in the same area of the school, 5 or 10
minutes by walking; but we offer you door to door transportation.
- 18. What can I do in order to study some Spanish before the trip?
=It would be good a basic book, than contains basic sentences and, would
also be very good a book of verbs and vocabulary.
- 19. Q. How long can I stay in Colombia with my passport?
= You have 60 days from your arrival. This could be extended 120 days. If
you wish to stay more time, you will have to go to the DAS headquarters
located on Calle 100 N° 11b - 27; or at the airport office.
- 20. Q. Can I receive mail while I am staying in Colombia?
=Yes, but it is better to be sent through ANDAP, because usually from the
US
to Colombia will take from 3 to 4 weeks, and from Europe almost a month.
- 21. Q. What extra curricular activities do you have available for the
students, that are included in the registration fee?
=If you take the tour pack, we will take you to the touristic places that
appear in this package tour, but if you took the regular program and you
wish to go to one of the tours you will be charged the additional cost
according to the place you want to go.
- 22. Q. Do you offer private classes?
= Yes, the cost is US $30 per lesson, it is minimum two lessons per day.
- 23. Q. How should I transfer my money to Colombia, and where can I exchange
it?
= You may bring your money in cash (we recommend small amounts), traveler's
checks. Most of the places will take them and you may exchange them easily
in the bank. You require to show your passport. Most businesses accept
Visa
and MasterCard.
- 24. Q. What is ANDAP'S address in Colomia?
= The address is carrera 19 N° 75 - 82, very close to the zona Rosa and the
best residential neighborhoods in Bogotá.
- 25. Q. Can I stay with the family after I finish the program?
=Yes, but this should be notified in advanced to the School; and the school
will not be responsible for the student's security.
- 26. Q. If I want to be in touch with my business, is there any possibility
to have access to a fax or long distance phone calls?
=ANDAP offers 30 minutes free of INTERNET per week,; If you wish to be on
line more time you should pay US $30 cents per minute.
